Xinjiang University (Pinyin: Xinjiang Daxue; Uyghur: Zig Siu (ڭ sog Xig Siu ۋې jig siu ې), Latin Uighur: Shinjang Uniwersiteti, Sh.U.), one of 100 universities under the "211 Project" of the Chinese government for the 21st century, is a national key university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the autonomous region. Located in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, it is a comprehensive university with the largest scale, the longest history, the most complete disciplines and the highest level of scientific research in Xinjiang. Currently, there are 79 majors covering 8 disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, literature, history, science, engineering and management.
