The application of thermogravimetric analyzers in the plastic industry

With the continuous iteration and upgrading of new plastic materials and the increasingly strict quality standards, precise thermal performance testing has become a core环节 in plastic research and development, production, and quality control. The thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), as the core equipment for high-molecular material thermal analysis, can accurately detect the quality changes, thermal decomposition characteristics, and component ratios of plastics during the heating process. It is widely used in the entire process of plastic research and development, production quality inspection, and recycling, and is a key device for ensuring plastic product quality and optimizing production processes.

In the field of new material research and development, thermogravimetric analyzers are mainly used to assess the thermal stability and high-temperature resistance of plastics. By measuring the initial decomposition temperature, maximum decomposition rate temperature, and residual mass of the materials, researchers can accurately determine the high-temperature tolerance limits of various plastics such as PE, ABS, and PC, optimize the formulation system, select materials suitable for high-temperature processing techniques such as injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding, and provide data support for the research and development of high-temperature-resistant and flame-retardant modified plastics.

In industrialized production quality control, this equipment plays a crucial role in quantitative component detection. Plastic products are typically composed of resin, glass fiber, talc powder, flame retardants, etc. Thermal gravimetric analysis can accurately determine the contents of inorganic fillers, additives, and resin matrix in plastics, quickly identify deviations in the formula, uneven blending of fillers, and other production issues, effectively control product consistency, eliminate batch quality defects, and meet the requirements of industry standard production.

Furthermore, in the field of plastic recycling, the thermogravimetric analyzer can simulate the plastic pyrolysis process, analyze the degradation characteristics and component purity of waste plastics, assist in sorting and classification, optimize the pyrolysis recovery process, and improve the quality of recycled plastics. In summary, the thermogravimetric analyzer provides precise data support for the improvement of efficiency and green development in the plastic industry, and is an indispensable testing equipment in modern plastic industry.
